Description
2014 Yarra Valley Pinot Noir (20% whole bunch)
Varieties: 100% Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes:
Full, vigorous colour. Aromatics of red and blue-layered fruits, with spice and earth adding complexity. Medium to full bodied with ample fruit yet remaining tightly structured. Healthy acidity and enough tannin should guarantee that this wine should age well for the next ten years.
Viticulture Notes:
Our Hill Road vineyard and winery is located at Coldstream, 40kms east of Melbourne in Victoria’s oldest grape growing region, the Yarra Valley. Grown on ancient, mountain derived sandy clay loams, these rocky soils combined with our thirty-year-old vines are at the heart of this wine. 2013 will be remembered for good winter rains, even flowering and fruit set with an early harvest due to dry and favourable conditions.
Harvest:
Hand-picked 22nd February Vinification: 20% Whole bunch, 80% whole berry, cold soak, pressed at completion of spontaneous fermentation 19 days after picking.
Elevage:
Matured in a mix of French oak (30% new), racked once prior to bottling, unfined and unfiltered.
Technical Data:
Alcohol 14%
