Description
2013 Yarra Valley Syrah
Varieties: 100% Shiraz
Tasting Notes: Ruby purple. A little closed at present, however subtle bay leaf, black olive and dark fruits sit under the surface. The whole bunch element is there but only just, showing the pedigree of the 2013 growing season. Medium to full bodied palate, blackberry, plum, spice and are all kept in check by natural acidity and fine tannins. Will reward cellaring 5-10 years
Viticulture Notes: Our Hill Road vineyard and winery is located at Coldstream, 40kms east of Melbourne in Victoria’s oldest grape growing region, the Yarra Valley. Grown on ancient, mountain derived sandy clay loams, these rocky soils combined with our thirty-year-old vines are at the heart of this wine. 2013 will be remembered for good winter rains, even flowering and fruit set with an early harvest due to dry and favourable conditions.
Harvest: Hand-picked 2st March
Vinification: 100% Whole bunch, short cold soak, pressed at the completion of natural fermentation – 23 days after picking.
Elevage: Matured in a mix of French oak (30% new), racked once prior to bottling. Unfined and unfiltered.
Technical Data:
Alcohol: 13.9%
