Glenguin Estate Schoolhouse Block Shiraz

2014 Glenguin Estate Schoolhouse Block Shiraz

The Schoolhouse Block slopes to the north east and the cuttings for the blockwere taken from the oldest ‘Busby’ shiraz vines in the Hunter. Lower thanexpected yields in 2014 of 1.25 tonnes per acre. 10 days on skins, 40% wholebunch ferment with maturation in large French oak barrels for 12 months withfurther bottle aging prior to release. A stunning wine in a stunning vintage. Will reward with greater complexity over the next decade or longer.

“Both the bouquet and palate have complex elements deriving from the very high (for the Hunter Valley) whole bunch component, but shares the medium-bodied freshness of its siblings” 97 points, to 2044, 2017 James Halliday Wine Companion

“If you’re hunting sweet fruit flavour you’ll definitely find it here but then, there’s a whole lot else going on besides”, 94 points, to 2029+, Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
