Glenguin Estate Ironbark Tannat

2013 Glenguin Estate Ironbark Tannat

The final vintage of our much enjoyed project wine. Tannat is an old grape variety originating in south-west France with considerable plantings in Uruguay, where it is considered their ‘national grape’. 22 year old vinesdirectly descended from those in France. 6 days on skins with handpumping over before being fermented in large volume French oak. A unique wine with a deep colour, smoky aroma and lovely damson fruit palate. Layers of soft, dusty tannins complete what is a fitting final vintage of this very different Hunter Valley red.
